Customer reviews for ToyWiz indicate several areas of concern. Multiple reviewers accuse the store of practices that exploit collectors, particularly regarding trading card games (TCG). One reviewer recounts an instance where the store allegedly bought out a large quantity of Pokémon booster packs and then significantly marked up the price. Another reviewer claims to have seen an employee buying out stock from a local Target, supposedly to resell at ToyWiz for a higher price, and mentions hearing similar accounts from other local stores.

Concerns are also raised about trade-in values, with one reviewer stating they were offered a very low price for a high-value card, suggesting the store offers significantly less than market value when acquiring items from customers. Pricing is a recurring issue, with reviewers stating that ToyWiz charges well over market price for items, sometimes double or even quadruple the retail price, even on items readily available in other stores.

Regarding preorders, one reviewer notes that ToyWiz often lists them months in advance and offers solid prices for the first few days. However, they also mention that shipping can occur significantly after the official release date. This suggests a potential benefit for early preorders but a drawback in terms of timely delivery.

One reviewer reported an issue with a refund for a returned item, which had to be resolved through a PayPal dispute, indicating potential problems with their return process.

Despite the negative feedback on pricing, trade-in values, and some business practices, one reviewer did mention that the people at the store are nice. However, this positive comment is overshadowed by the more prevalent criticisms regarding the store's pricing strategies and alleged involvement in practices that negatively impact the collecting community.

Local users considering ToyWiz should be aware of the concerns raised in customer reviews, particularly regarding pricing, trade-in values, and preorder fulfillment timelines. While they may offer a selection of toys and collectibles, including TCGs, the reported business practices might be a deterrent for some shoppers, especially those involved in collecting.

Hey Matt, remember trick-or-trade Pokémon booster packs two or three years ago? your store bought them all out and we’re charging upwards over $40 per pack that retailed at 17.99 when I went in.…. The short young male employee that’s usually at the front used to be at the target every single Wednesday in Spring Valley on restock day buying everything he could- I saw him on the prismatic release day…. I tried to trade in Giratina alt art from lost origins back when it was only a $300 card and I got offered $75. No whitening with great centering…. Looking at your other low reviews it’s seems that others have had similar experiences and feedback. Maybe you just took over but clearly you can’t handle criticism from guests. This place always surprises me how they stay in business. I ordered an item around Christmas time that I sent back because I happen to find it locally in the store. I never received my refund and I had to dispute it through PayPal because they claimed they never received the product back. It was an item exclusive to Kohl’s that they bought all the local stock up because they knew it would be popular around Christmas time. In this location They charge way over market for items that are dropping in stores at the same time. They are feeding into the scalper mentality. Iv also seen one of their employees trying to buy out all of the local target pokemon and other TCG stock claiming it was for their “kid”. I’ve heard from other local stores like GameStop that they do this all the time. Being that they sell TCG products, they shouldn’t be going to the local retail stores and purchasing everything out to sell it for three times MSRP when other collectors don’t even have a shot at it. When trading items they offer you a laughable amount 30 to 40% sometimes of what the item is worth for them to sell it at 120% to someone else. I don’t spend any more money with this business since I work extremely hard for my money and everything in this economy cost way too much. I would reconsider making a purchase with them if you’re looking for products in the future.

They put out pre-orders months (sometimes 6-9 months) before anyone else. Prices are solid if you buy within the first 3 days of them posting. Most of their prices on cards are double or even quadruple retail. They also ship often 2 months AFTER release. Nice people though.

Have been there several times to buy & trade in cards. First time i was there trading in cards ,I dealt with the owner & he was fair with his offer & willing to negotiate a bit. Overall great experience. Other couple times I wasnt so lucky, the guy John had a bad attitude & didnt seem like he wanted to be bothered. Overall I dont think most employees get the essence of the hobby. There is barely any decent product & if they do have it, it was over priced. Rockland needs a new family owned card store that actually cares about the hobby as much they do making $

I’ve never been so disappointed with a company and its lack in “doing whatever it takes” to make its customers satisfied and wanting to come back and do future business. I ordered a small plushy for my daughter’s birthday, was told my package would arrive in about two weeks, It’s now been over a month and it took three calls and multiple emails, for them to even offer to refund me for the purchase or really do anything for that matter, very cold on the phone and constantly was told the company was “looking into it and would send me an email soon” First and last time doing business with this company.

Walked in on Saturday afternoon. About 10 minutes went by clearly looking for help. Noticed 1 employee helping like 6 different people. I just walked out. Cool store, Great selection but how do you have 1 person working on a Saturday? There are plenty other places to get the same cards for cheaper.
