The Collector Introduce

For local users in Brooklyn, NY, The Collector, located at 2111 E 18th St, Brooklyn, NY 11229, USA, offers a unique blend of items. While categorized as a "Toy Store Near Me" on some platforms, The Collector appears to function as a bookstore with an added focus on other collectibles. They can be reached at (917) 474-8976 or via mobile at +1 917-474-8976.

Based on customer reviews, experiences at The Collector are varied. One customer had a positive interaction with the owner, describing them as friendly, welcoming, straightforward, and honest about pricing. This reviewer also mentioned the possibility of negotiation and recommended the store for those seeking TCGs and other items available there.

However, another customer reported a significant issue, stating they were sold a counterfeit video game. After identifying the fake, they were able to resolve the issue with the store by receiving some additional games as compensation. While this customer acknowledged the possibility that the seller was unaware of the counterfeit, they were left feeling they received less value than expected and expressed reluctance to shop there again. This review also raised concerns about the authenticity of other items in the store, specifically mentioning potentially reprinted cartridge art on some Nintendo 64 games.

It seems The Collector offers a diverse inventory that includes books, Trading Card Games (TCGs), and video games, potentially appealing to collectors. The environment might be one where negotiation is possible, particularly with the owner. However, potential customers should be aware of the reported issue with a counterfeit item and exercise caution when purchasing, especially when it comes to potentially valuable collectibles.

For local users considering visiting The Collector, it's advisable to weigh the positive feedback regarding customer interaction against the serious concern raised about product authenticity. If you are interested in TCGs or other collectibles and value the possibility of negotiating prices, The Collector might be worth a visit, but careful inspection of items, particularly potentially high-value ones, is recommended.

Meet up with the owner of the store. Very friendly and welcoming was straight forward and honest with me about pricing. You can negotiate with him to work out a better deal. Would recommend if you’re looking for TCG or anything they got all sorts of goodies here.

So they sold me a fake copy of Clayfighter’s Sculptors Cut for N64. After bringing it home and checking the authenticity, I went back to the store and I told them about the motherboard being faked and not being from Nintendo. The guy working there tried to make it up to me and I was able to get a few SNES games from him to make up for the damage. I don’t believe he necessarily knew it was a fake reproduction and after looking through the N64 games more carefully it also looked like there were also two copies of 007 Goldeneye that were suspect with reprinted cartridge art. That being said I still believe I came out behind value wise with the deal and probably won’t shop there again.

I never really make reviews, but it's so great having this store in the neighborhood. The staff is so sweet and was honest with the items I brought in. They'll make trades too. Not only that, they have more than retro games, such as Tarot and Oracle readings. I will definitely be coming back here. Thank you again!

Meh. Tried to upsell RAW cards by cherry picking psa9+ market prices. $4 became $15 somehow? I'm not interested in negotiating,I just want to buy some cards. Thanks anyway though.
