Target’s recent rollback of its diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives is not only a betrayal of its stated values but also a direct affront to employees, customers, and communities who have long supported the company. By abandoning the pledge to increase Black representation, dissolving the executive committee on racial justice, and withdrawing from critical diversity assessments like those from the Human Rights Campaign, Target is signaling a disturbing willingness to let racial biases override the principles of equity and inclusion. This decision has profound personal ramifications. It adversely affects my family, myself, and my community—communities that have historically faced systemic inequities and looked to brands like Target to lead by example in fostering inclusive environments. The company’s retreat from DEI commitments undermines the trust and loyalty we have placed in it, suggesting that our contributions and well-being are expendable. Please understand that I can buy toilet paper and cheap clothing just about anywhere. Why should I shop at Target? What sets a company apart in today’s world isn’t just convenience or price—it’s values. It’s the willingness to take a stand for what’s right, to create opportunities, to foster an environment where every employee and customer is treated with dignity and respect. If Target is unwilling to uphold those values, then it has given me no reason to give it my business. I will not support a company that turns its back on equity and inclusion while continuing to profit from the very communities it refuses to uplift. We will not stand idly by as Target undermines the progress toward a more just and equitable society. This is bigger than one company—this is about the values we uphold as a community and as a society. Turning away from DEI is turning away from fairness, opportunity, and basic human decency. We refuse to accept that.

Awful! They are hostile towards their customers. The self checkout (which I prefer to use) is always closed now, and often times they only have one register open. So you are forced to wait in a long line if you want to buy anything. The aisles and front end are covered with carts of returned items and stock, to the point where sometimes it’s hard to shop and move through the aisles. It feels like they are actively trying to make it difficult to shop and buy things from the store. I used to love shopping here 10 years ago, but now it’s gotten so bad I won’t shop here anymore. I would advise others to avoid this store and go anywhere else if you want a decent shopping experience!

The security guards (specifically the goth one) told me to “take what I stole out” and even when I showed them my ENTIRE bag they did not let up. Horrible profiling here. Huge downhill after DEI initiatives were given up on.

Quite nasty and rude cashiers, who prefer to get personal with what you buy and why. I’ve always chosen self checkout, but they’ve closed it now. i don’t like being treated like a dead dog, so i’ll have to move on.

Some of the cashiers here are very professional, but the overall store experience has been one of rapid decline. The self-checkout has been down for months, and the store feels overcrowded and understocked, so shopping here isn't as convenient or pleasant as it should be.
