Target Introduce

Target, located at 2003 Broadway Mall, Hicksville, NY 11801, USA, is a large department store offering a wide variety of products, including toys, household essentials, groceries, and more. While categorized as a "Toy Store Near Me," it is important to note that Target is a general merchandise retailer.

Customer reviews indicate that the Hicksville location is a "huge" and often busy store. This can result in long and slow checkout lines, although self-checkout registers are available. The store offers ample parking and curbside pickup options for added convenience.

However, some customers express concerns about the store's atmosphere and customer service. They describe a shift in recent years, noting a lack of greetings from employees and a perceived emphasis on "asset protection." Some customers feel that the store's surveillance and monitoring practices create an "unwelcoming" and "dystopian" shopping environment.

Specifically, concerns are raised about the presence of security personnel and the monitoring of purchases at checkout. Some customers feel that the focus on surveillance detracts from the overall shopping experience.

Huge location that's also very busy. Checkout lines can be very long and slow. Some self-checkout registers available too. Has ample parking and several curbside pickup spaces too.

Growing up Target used to be alright enough. Was always a corporate warehouse but was still convenient enough to grab house essentials. Over the last few years they have turned into a very strange business. No longer greeted by employess and at all the major entrances they have "asset" protection guards blatantly staring at cameras ready to stop anyone they believe stole something. Behind all the happy music blasting through the speakers and the clean cut style of the white shelving fixtures, Target just feels like a very unwelcoming place. A place that begrudgingly provides service to its consumers. A business that assumes all "guests" are suspicious. There can be 3-4 employees right at checkout just monitoring your purchases. At that rate there's enough employees for them to ring up the items for you. Then we don't have to stare our own dumb faces through a security monitor screen to buy baby formula. This surveillance style business model feels dystopian and miserable. I'd rather shop at a local grocery store and boutique shop if this continues.

Target has made themselves a target for theft, so all the shoppers pay the price for it. I got stuck waiting at the mall entrance inside Target that didn’t open until 11 with a crying baby and a return that I had to bring through the mall to IKEA. I asked an employee to just let me through and she said they couldn’t do it until 11. I was going to shop at Target on the way back and get things that needed refrigeration (so I couldn’t do it while I waited), but I’ll make a point to get those things somewhere else now. Terrible service. Put a prominent note on your front door that says that you don’t have an accessible mall entrance if you guys can’t stop inviting shoplifters into your store and can’t keep up your security.

An absolutely cavernous location. I mean, circle the store in 5000+ steps. Just too big. It is beautiful, though. Spotlessly clean. With everything you could be looking for. Very bright, with well stocked shelves. Endcaps and displays are well merchandised. Plenty of cashiers, plus self checkouts. Huge parking area, plus access to Broadway Mall and IKEA.

I never thought I'd say this but this target was an awful experience the customer service by the older woman at the cash register on 1/27/25 at around 9pm was disrespectful and unwelcoming. She looked angry to service us and got upset that we asked a question regarding if we could use our target red card. Not sure if she is aware that is her job to answer questions and ring people up, maybe she'd be better suited for a non customer facing job.
